Rosmah – from calm lady to forlorn figure

PUTRAJAYA: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor was a picture of calm when she arrived at the Palace of Justice to lend support to her husband Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Clad in bright pink, Rosmah arrived in the afternoon while the hearing was ongoing, and in her usual fashion, stole the attention of the waiting members of the press, even according them a wave and a smile.

Their children Nooryana Najwa and Norashman also came to the court complex to watch the proceedings of the appeal, which ended with the upholding of Najib’s conviction and 12-year jail sentence.

Throughout the week-long proceedings, Rosmah, Nooryana and Norashman were often present at the court.

After the Federal Court verdict was delivered, Rosmah and her children stayed on shortly in the courtroom, before exiting through a separate route to avoid the press.

However, she cut a forlorn figure as her vehicle left the Palace of Justice – a stark contrast from the slight optimism displayed earlier.

Meanwhile, Nooryana took to Instagram to write a heartfelt entry on her father’s conviction.

“Maybe we didn’t fight hard enough, maybe we placed our fullest trust in our justice system and maybe we believed wholeheartedly in our cause and purpose so we stood defiantly these four years,” said Nooryana.

“Yet, you did not get your day of justice today and we did not stand a fighting chance,” she said in her post.

“I promise to you that Mummy, Ashman, Abang Jaja, me, the family and your people will never rest until you are safely back with us and justice is served. We are so proud of your strength. Bossku does not end here,” she added.

In a Facebook post, Najib’s eldest son, Datuk Nizar, wrote: “... deeply saddened but unbowed and undefeated.”
