PUTRAJAYA: “Only the Almighty alone can dispense perfect justice.”
A disappointed Hisyam Teh Poh Teik, Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s lawyer, was left quoting an Indian jurist when he spoke briefly to the media after the end of the appeal hearing in the SRC International case.
“Of course we are sad because we lost the appeal.
“I can only say that we seek comfort and solace in those words of a great Indian jurist,” he said.
Asked if a review would be filed, Hisyam said: “I am not able to say now. But we will be discussing the possibility.”
The Federal Court had affirmed the conviction and sentence faced by the former prime minister.
Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, in the broad grounds of judgment, said the five-judge panel had examined the merits of the case “in great detail”.
She said the apex court found that the conviction was safe on all seven charges and that the sentence was not excessive.
She ordered that he be sent to jail immediately.
