Many gather to watch Najib’s arrival at prison

KAJANG: Curious residents staying near the Kajang Prison and members of the media gathered to watch the arrival of the vehicle transporting Datuk Seri Najib Razak to the facility here.

However, reporters and photographers were not allowed to enter the prison gate by security personnel.

Instead, they sat by the roadside and waited for him to arrive.

Najib was seen arriving at the prison at 6.47pm.

The car ferrying him was tightly guarded and accompanied by several police patrol cars.

One resident who came to watch said he was shocked that Najib was found guilty.

“He was a good prime minister and had brought benefits to us Malaysians during his administration,” he said, adding that the people should accept the court’s decision.

Earlier, journalists were informed that the former prime minister would be taken to Sungai Buloh Prison and not Kajang Prison.

Some of them rushed to Sungai Buloh to wait for his arrival.

However, they were told that he would be sent to Kajang Prison.

As of press time, it cannot be confirmed whether Najib will serve his sentence in Kajang Prison or at Sungai Buloh.
