Umno 'wounded' by Tajuddin's tell-all, says Shahidan

KUALA LUMPUR: The recent chaos in Umno has created a wound in the party that needs to be mended, says Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim.

The Umno supreme council member was commenting on the recent revelation by Pasir Salak MP Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman that he and several other Umno MPs had signed statutory declarations (SDs) in support of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister in 2020.

"The best (thing to do) is for the (Umno) disciplinary board to ask Tajuddin about the details.

"That is the best (option) for Umno in the run-up to the 15th General Election," said Shahidan, who is also Federal Territories Minister after launching the newly opened Selayang daily market (PSKL) here.

Shahidan, who is also Arau MP, described Tajuddin's actions as something that has "hurt" Umno.

Tajuddin gave the tell-all press conference after he was dropped from the Umno supreme council.

"The most important thing to do is that we need to be united in heart and attitude," said Shahidan.

"I am willing to cooperate. The disciplinary board should ask him (Tajuddin) about the revelation and find a solution," he said.

Shahidan was also asked about a new "party leadership line-up" with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as president and Shahidan as party vice-president.

"If they want to promote me, that is good. That will be fun, we'll see," he said.
