Soldier injured in shooting range incident


SEREMBAN: A soldier suffered facial injuries after being accidentally shot by a colleague at a firing range in Sungai Menyala, Port Dickson, on Wednesday (Aug 12).

Negeri Sembilan Police deputy chief SAC Mohd Nasharudin Mohd Shariff said the incident occurred at about 2.15pm when the victim, who is in his 20s, and several other personnel were taking part in a shooting practice.

"The victim was taken to Port Dickson Hospital before being transferred to Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital here for further treatment. He is reported to be in a stable condition," he said in a statement on Thursday (Aug 13).

Following the incident, a man in his 20s, was detained under Section 37 of the Arms Act 1960 and Section 337 of the Penal Code to assist with investigations. – Bernama
