IPOH: Police are tracking down the owner of a TikTok channel that accused Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk) chief executive Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak of workplace sexual harassment and corporate mismanagement.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said a request was made to the Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to identify the social media account owner to assist in the investigation.
"After finding out, we will investigate it further," he said during a press conference at the state police contingent headquarters here on Thursday (Aug 13).
Comm Mohd Alwi said a police report has been lodged by the victim.
The matter, he said, is being investigated under Section 507A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
"We also did not receive any reports by the alleged victim of sexual abuse," he added.
Meanwhile, PKNPk in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 12), denied the allegations.
"PKNPk respects the rights of any parties to voice up, opine and criticise through proper channels, but such freedom cannot be abused for baseless accusations.
"We have lodged reports regarding the matter with the MCMC and the police between July 30 and Aug 3," it said.
"We will let the authorities investigate and take action according to the law.
"PKNPk has also gotten legal advice and will take the necessary actions to protect its reputation and integrity against those who spread false statements or slander," it added.
