PETALING JAYA: Mentri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim highlighted the message of a sermon on humility hours after he was openly told off by the Negri Sembilan ruler.
He said he had performed Friday prayers with the local community in the Kariah Beting mosque in Kuala Pilah.
In the sermon about fortifying the soul with prayers, Ismail said prayers were not just a requirement but the foundation of building resilience, protecting one’s faith and developing a noble character.
“The khatib (person delivering the sermon) said that those who really understood the meaning of sujud (prostration) will work towards distancing themselves from arrogance, hatred and evil.
“They would realise that every human is a servant of Allah, whose rights should be respected and deserving of justice.
“Sujud also trains humans to control their desires of constantly seeking praise, recognition and being prioritised,” Ismail said in a Facebook post Friday (Oct 16).
He said he appreciated the role of mosques as a place of worship and unity among the community.
Earlier, a video had made the rounds online of Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir openly ticking off Ismail.
In the video, the Yang di-Pertuan Besar is also seen telling a group of people that Ismail had written a letter to the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, claiming that Tuanku Muhriz was no longer the state Ruler.
Both Tuanku Muhriz and the Mentri Besar were at the mosque in Kuala Pilah for Friday prayers.
