SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar has no power to request the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) secretary for the unconfirmed minutes of the council's meetings, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
The former mentri besar said the minutes of the DKU meetings, which are chaired by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, are also classified and can only be declassified by the council.
"I (as mentri besar) attended the DKU meetings as a member.
“I have no authority to request the DKU secretary to hand over minutes of the meeting that have not yet been confirmed by the council.
"I hope Umno, especially its Seri Menanti assemblyman Muhammad Sufian Maradzi, will read and understand the Laws of the Constitution of Negri Sembilan and the DKU before making any statement," he said in a post on social media.
In a statement Wednesday (Sept 30), Muhammad Sufian, who is also state Umno information chief, said the question that remains the core foundation of the entire crisis in the state was the failure of Aminuddin's government to release the minutes of an April 17 meeting of the DKU.
He said the question regarding the minutes of the said meeting remains fundamental as it was then the position of the Undang of Sungei Ujong was said to have been collectively decided but the matter was subsequently disputed by the parties present.
Muhammad Sufian said the people should look at the sequence of events that began during the administration of the then PKR-led government which allegedly caused the crisis before placing blame on the current government.
He also asked why the record that served as the foundation for such a major decision was not presented when the dispute first arose.
If that had been clarified from the very beginning, he said, a large part of the confusion, institutional disputes, and subsequent administrative crisis could likely have been avoided.
Aminuddin said Umno should not raise or repeatedly bring up issues related to the minutes.
"I hope Umno realises this and ends its political games, especially given the public's concern (to the ongoing crisis)," he said, urging the current state government to begin fulfilling its responsibilities.
