KOTA BARU: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu says the party has been allocated eight state assembly seats to contest in the Melaka state election.
Mohamad, who is also the Agriculture and Food Security Minister, said the seat distribution is the result of discussions at the Pakatan Harapan level, but the decision will only be finalised by the Pakatan presidential council.
"As of now, at the Pakatan level, we have been allocated eight seats, but we have not yet finalised our contesting model. We will finalise the matter in the presidential council and announce it on Oct 24," he told reporters after attending the 2026 Kelantan Amanah convention here Friday (Oct 16).
Mohamad said the actual number of seats contested by the party will take into account Amanah's participation in a broader cooperation that is still under discussion.
The Election Commission (EC) has set Oct 31 as the nomination date for the Melaka state election, with early voting on Nov 10 and polling day on Nov 14, following the dissolution of the state assembly on Sept 23. - Bernama
