Melaka polls: PKR to vie for nine seats

JOHOR BARU: PKR will contest nine seats in the upcoming Melaka state election, says its secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh.

She said Pakatan Harapan as a whole has "more or less" finalised its candidate list at this point.

"The candidates will be announced in Melaka next Saturday (Oct 24).

"The important thing for us is to ensure that our preparation is solid and we put up a good fight," she told reporters after opening the southern zone Malaysia International Franchise Exhibition at a mall here on Friday (Oct 16).

She added that Pakatan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to reveal the candidates and launch the coalition’s election machinery.

The event will be held at 8pm on Oct 24 at the Hang Jebat Stadium parking lot.

Asked if Pakatan is cooperating with any other parties for the state polls, Fuziah said no.

"There is no official understanding. But if they want to help, we welcome them," she said.

The Election Commission has set Oct 31 for nominations, Nov 10 for early voting, and Nov 14 for polling day.
