Kedah floods: Number of evacuees increases to 92

ALOR SETAR: The number of flood evacuees in Kedah has increased to 92 people from 25 families as at 8am Wednesday (Nov 24), compared to 58 people from 12 families on Tuesday (Nov 23) afternoon.

Malaysian Civil Defence (APM) Kedah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat head Mohd Muaz Mohd Yusof said the victims were housed at three flood relief centres in the Kubang Pasu and Kota Setar districts.

"The relief centre in Kota Setar, at SK Gunung, was opened at 10pm Tuesday, housing 39 victims from 14 families,” he said in a statement Wednesday.

Muaz said in Kubang Pasu, 22 victims from four families were taking shelter at the Dewan Kampung Lahar while 31 people from seven families were at the Dewan Kampung Tradisi Lembah Keriang.

He said the flood victims in the Kubang Pasu district were from Kampung Lahar, Kampung Paya Tok Keong and Kampung Nang Mah. - Bernama
