PETALING JAYA: Budget 2027 allocations for security assets, operational capabilities and facilities will strengthen the police’s readiness to deal with increasingly complex threats and criminal activities, says Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail.
He welcomed the RM22bil allocation to the Home Ministry, including RM7.1bil for the procurement and maintenance of assets for the police and other uniformed agencies.
“The police express their deepest appreciation to the government for its attention and support towards the national security agenda,” he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 9).
Mohd Khalid also welcomed the RM1.1bil allocation to enhance operational capabilities, saying it would help the force respond to evolving security threats and criminal activities.
He said the construction of the General Operations Force (GOF) 19th Battalion Complex in Cheras, along with three new police stations in Sungai Rambai, Melaka; Tanjung Malim, Perak; and Batu Lintang, Sri Aman, Sarawak, would further improve the force’s infrastructure.
“These initiatives will strengthen the force’s infrastructure, enhance operational readiness and support the delivery of more efficient and effective policing services to the public,” he said.
On personnel welfare, Mohd Khalid welcomed the RM2.3bil allocation for the construction and maintenance of public servants’ quarters, including police quarters.
He said better housing facilities were important for the well-being of personnel and their families, while also helping to improve morale and work performance.
He also welcomed the special financial assistance of RM1,500 for 1.3 million civil servants in Grade Utama B and below, including contract appointees, as well as RM750 for more than one million government pensioners, including veterans.
Mohd Khalid said the assistance recognised the contributions of public service personnel while helping to ease cost-of-living pressures.
He said the police would ensure that all allocations and initiatives were used effectively through efficient management, integrity and good governance.
“Priority will be given to enhancing operational readiness, strengthening the capabilities of officers and personnel, and improving the effectiveness of policing services, so that every government investment translates into tangible benefits for the people,” he said.
