Budget 2027: IGP welcomes allocation to build new buildings

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail.

PETALING JAYA: The allocation for the construction of new police buildings, including three new police stations, will enhance operational readiness, says Bukit Aman.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said that the police force welcomed the tabling and that the allocation of RM22bil to the Home Ministry will support the national security agenda.

“The police express its deepest appreciation to the government for its attention and support towards the national security agenda, particularly through the allocation of RM22bil to the Home Ministry, alongside RM7.1bil for the procurement and maintenance of security force assets, including those belonging to police and uniformed agencies under the Home Minister.

"The announcement of the construction of the General Operations Force (GOF) 19th Battalion Complex in Cheras, as well as three new police stations in Sungai Rambai, Melaka; Tanjung Malim, Perak; and Batu Lintang, Sri Aman, Sarawak, is also welcomed. These initiatives will strengthen the force’s infrastructure, enhance operational readiness and support the delivery of more efficient and effective policing services to the public,” he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 9).

He added that the RM1.1bil allocation for the enhancement of operational capabilities is welcomed and that it would ensure the continued addressing of increasingly complex security threats and criminal activities.

"In terms of welfare, the police expresses its appreciation for the government’s commitment, reflected in the increased allocation of RM2.3bil for the construction and maintenance of public servants’ quarters, including police quarters. Better housing facilities are an important aspect of safeguarding the well-being of personnel and their families, while supporting morale and service performance.

"We also expresses its appreciation for the announcement of special financial assistance of RM1,500 for the 1.3 million civil servants in Grade Utama B and below, including contract appointees, as well as RM750 for more than one million government pensioners, including pensionable and non-pensionable veterans. This assistance recognises the contributions and sacrifices of public service personnel while helping to ease their cost-of-living burden.

“The police will ensure that every allocation and initiative provided is utilised optimally through efficient, integrity-driven management and good governance. Priority will be given to enhancing operational readiness, strengthening the capabilities of officers and personnel, and improving the effectiveness of policing services, so that every government investment translates into tangible benefits for the people,” he said.
