Dr M's tweet shows his true character, says Sarawak Deputy CM

PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing (pic) has called out Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad over his controversial tweet on the issue of freedom of speech, violence and Islam in France, saying the rule of law must be respected.

The Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister said that the former premier’s comments reflect his true character.

“The law of civilised nations is that no one is allowed to take the law into their own hands, let alone take somebody’s life just because that person happens to disagree with his beliefs or stance on certain issues.

“That’s why we have laws and the court system to ensure that we don’t revert to the laws of the jungle, ” he said on Friday (Oct 30).

James also said Dr Mahathir’s comments do not represent the stance of all Malaysians.

“Mahathir's comments on the killing in of non-Muslim in France is a reflection of who he is as a person.

“It’s not Malaysian. We live and abide by the rule of law," he added.
