Parliament extends condolences to Dr Mahathir


DEWAN Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor has conveyed Parliament’s condolences to former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his family following the recent passing of his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.

Ramli expressed his condolences at the start of the Dewan Rakyat sitting yesterday before starting the day’s proceedings.

“I would like to convey, on behalf of the Malaysian Parliament, condolences to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the former prime minister and former member of the House, and his family over the passing of his beloved wife,” he said.

Dr Siti Hasmah, who was 100, died at the National Heart Institute at about 9.20am on Sept 28.

She was laid to rest at Makam Pahlawan in Presint 20, Putrajaya, later that day following a state funeral, with Dr Mahathir, their children and other family members present.
