Melaka polls: Anwar tells PH candidates, election machinery to earn people's trust, repel slanders

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged his coalition’s candidates and party machinery to work hard to earn the people's trust in the 16th Melaka election.

In a Facebook post on Sunday (Oct 25) night, Anwar who is also the Prime Minister said all instances of slander and racial incitement must be countered through tangible achievements and dedicated service to the people.

"Come, all Pakatan Harapan candidates and machinery uphold the trust placed in you for the Melaka state election through hard work.

"May our sincerity and determination enable us to make history in Melaka and drive reforms toward a future that is more just, prosperous, and dignified," he said.

Pakatan is fielding 21 candidates from its three component parties for the Nov 14 Melaka polls, compared to 28 candidates in 2021.

The Election Commission has set Nov 14 as the polling day for the state election, with candidate nominations scheduled for Oct 31 and early voting for Nov 10. - Bernama
