Bid to smuggle contraband foiled


ISKANDAR PUTERI: A bid to smuggle more than 3,108 boxes of liquor and 234 cartons of cigarettes worth almost RM500,000 through a foreign-registered ship was foiled by the Johor Customs Department.

State customs director Datuk Mohammad Hamiddan Maryani said the contraband were seized at the Tanjung Pelepas Port inspection bay on Oct 15 after two containers showed a suspicious manifest.
