Kluang man nabbed with 96 bottles of liquor with unpaid duties worth RM60,000


KLUANG: A local man was arrested for selling liquor with unpaid duties at the back lane of a shop building at Jalan 1, Taman Delima near here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the 30-year-old suspect was detained during a raid at the site on Saturday (April 11) at 4.35pm.

“We seized 96 bottles of liquor worth RM60,000 including unpaid taxes," he said in a statement.

ACP Bahrin added police also seized a sport utility vehicle (SUV), with expired road tax, bringing the total seized items to RM75,000.

He said the initial investigations found that the suspect did not have a criminal record and tested negative for drugs.

ACP Bahrin said the case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967 and Section 23(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
