PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced the names of 21 Pakatan Harapan candidates who will contest in the upcoming Melaka state election.
Anwar, who is also Pakatan chairman, unveiled the candidates during the an event at the grounds of Stadium Hang Jebat, Melaka on Saturday (Oct 24).
Addressing supporters, Anwar said he was encouraged by the strong turnout and enthusiasm shown by the crowd.
"I am confident in the spirit of the people of Melaka. Just look at the extraordinary turnout tonight, from one end to the other.
"They are not merely here, but have come with great enthusiasm and determination to bring about change.
"This is for our future, our children, our parents and our families. I want everyone to work hard as one team," he said in his speech.
He also reminded party members and supporters that each candidate represented Pakatan's political struggle and aspirations.
"These are Pakatan Harapan's candidates. Each of them represents the spirit of our struggle.
"Each must be entrusted with this responsibility and their victory rests in the hands of the voters and our friends," he said.
The Melaka state election is scheduled for Nov 14, with nomination day set for Oct 31 and early voting on Nov 10.
