Boy, 7, dies after falling from 10th floor of Johor flat

JOHOR BARU: A seven-year-old boy died after falling from the 10th floor of a flat while playing with his friends here.

Johor Baru North acting OCPD Supt Azrol Anuar Nor said the incident occurred at a flat in Taman Perling at about 5.30pm on Friday (Oct 23).

"Initial investigations found that the victim was playing chase with several other children along the corridor on the 10th floor of the flat.

"He was then believed to have used a bicycle to climb over the corridor wall before falling from the building," he said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 24).

Supt Azrol said the boy was found lying on the ground by residents.

"The victim suffered severe injuries to his head, arms and body and was pronounced dead at the scene," he said.

He added that a post-mortem conducted today confirmed that the cause of death was multiple injuries sustained from a fall from height.

"Police have identified and recorded statements from four witnesses who saw the incident to assist in investigations.

"The case has been classified as sudden death and further investigations are ongoing," he said.

Supt Azrol also reminded parents and guardians to closely monitor their children's activities, particularly in high-rise buildings.

He also urged those with information about the incident to contact the Johor Baru North district police headquarters hotline at 07-5563122.
