Perak PKR chief isn't missing, he's just taking a vacation, says his No. 2

PETALING JAYA: Perak PKR deputy chief M. A. Tinagaran has dismissed speculation that state party chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak – who has gone missing – is involved in the sex video scandal.

"I was made to understand that (Farhash) is still on holiday but he is following local political developments," said Tinagaran.

He said that he was frequently in touch with Farhash through WhatsApp, who remained active and participated in group conversations.

However, he questioned why Farhash's absence was being scrutinised as the video involved someone else.

"Why is (Farhash) the one being sought and his 'disappearance' sensationalised?" Tinagaran said in a press statement on Tuesday (June 18).

He added that the police authorities are currently investigating the case.

"I hope the issue that can be prioritised is not searching for someone who is currently on vacation, but establishing the facts of a case that clearly does not involve this person," said Tinagaran.

Speculation on social media linked Farhash to Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz after the latter was arrested at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Friday (June 14).

There were also claims that the state PKR chief could not be contacted since the first sex video clip circulated.

Haziq had confessed to being one of the two men in the sex video and named Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali as the other.

Azmin has categorically denied the allegation, saying it was made to tarnish his reputation and destroy his political career.
