KUALA LUMPUR: Family members of Datuk Seri Azmin Ali have come out in full support for him after the circulation of clips from a sex video which implicated him as one of the two men featured in the clips.

Azmin’s eldest daughter Farah Amira tweeted a “Happy Fathers Day” message, saying that she was proud to have a father like him.

“For raising us and leading the family the way you do, we’re grateful and beyond proud to have a father like you! Happy Father’s Day Abah. We love you,” tweeted Farah Amira under Twitter handle @miraazmin.

His eldest son Ameer also tweeted, “We love you endlessly.”

Another daughter Farah Shazliyana also wished Azmin Happy Father’s Day on her Twitter handle.

Azmin, a father of six, later tweeted that the most difficult job was being a father.

At a Hari Raya do in Gombak Setia yesterday, Azmin, who was accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Shamsidar Taharin, said that his family surprised him with a Fathers Day gift of a photo of the family titled “The Azmins”.

“I have a beautiful and nice wife and very strong support from her and my children.

“And we had a small reunion. I did not even know today was Fathers Day and I was given a pleasant surprise by my wife and children this morning,” said Azmin yesterday.

The public show of support from the family came in the midst of viral clips of a sex video which was circulated among PKR members and selected media personnel, to which Azmin had said was a slander to end his political career.

On calls whether he would take a break while authorities investigate the viral clips, Azmin said there was no need for him to do so as he was innocent.

“Why should I take a break? I have done nothing wrong,” said Azmin.

“I have come out stronger. God willing, I am stronger and I will continue to serve the people,” he said.

A pro-Pakatan Harapan group, Otai Reformis, said last week that Azmin should take a break from his governmental duties while the investigation on the sex video was being carried out.

At the same event, Azmin also said the police had yet to contact him personally but had reached out to his office.

“I can’t dictate when they should contact me but as I said, I will give full cooperation to the authorities at any time convenient to them,” said Azmin.

“They have to decide the process (whether I have to go to them or they will come to me) as the process is not mine (to decide).

“I have done my part. I have lodged – through my political secretary – reports to the police and the religious department.

“Let the authorities investigate without any intervention and any political statement from anybody.

“I want to ensure the process is professional and transparent,” added Azmin.

In the past week, clips of a sex video involving two men have gone viral, followed by a confession by Santubong PKR Youth Chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz that he was one of the two men in the video.

He also claimed that the other person was Azmin.

Haziq was arrested by the police at KLIA on June 14, as he was about to take a flight to Manila but was released the next day on police bail.
