SEREMBAN: Police have arrested three local men to assist in investigations into a fatal accident involving a firefighter at KM2.6 of Jalan Pantai, Port Dickson, on Monday (Oct 26) morning.
Port Dickson OCPD Supt Ahmad Afiq Mohd Adnan said that the three men, aged 31 and 32, comprised the driver of a Toyota Vios and his two friends, who allegedly conspired to hide the car in Puchong, Selangor, by removing its registration number plates.
At about 8.05am, the victim, a 46-year-old man riding a Honda ADV160 motorcycle, and the car were believed to have been travelling from Telok Kemang towards Port Dickson.
"The car is believed to have made a U-turn at the scene of the incident.
“The motorcyclist, who was behind it, failed to avoid the vehicle, crashing into its right side and falling onto the opposite lane.
"The victim sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the Emergency Ward of Port Dickson Hospital, while the car driver fled the scene after the accident,” he said in a statement.
Ahmad Afiq added that the car driver was subsequently arrested at the Serdang police headquarters at about 6.30pm on Monday, while his two friends were arrested in Puchong.
Checks found that the driver did not have a valid driving licence, while the vehicle's road tax and insurance had expired.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and an application for a remand order against all three men will be made at the Port Dickson Court on Tuesday (Oct 27). – Bernama
