S'gor MB hopes wife's social media post to be put to rest after her apology

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pic) says he hopes that the misunderstanding caused by his wife on social media over the weekend will be laid to rest as she has conveyed her apologies.

Amirudin's wife Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad posted two photos on her social media account, one of an Air Selangor water tanker and the other of her swimming pool at their home.

These photos sparked anger and criticism among social media users, as they argued that this was inappropriate especially during a major water disruption in the state.

"My wife has already apologised for her posting and the water tanker was not there to fill up our pool.

"She merely just wanted to express how happy and thankful she was that the water tanker came with clean water after waiting for almost a day," he told a press conference after kicking off the Selangor Budget 2021 Dialogue at the Setia City Convention Centre in Shah Alam on Monday (Sept 7).

He added that his wife made a mistake and he urged all social media users to be more careful when posting things on the Internet.

"As for the water cut, I'm happy to say that we have restored about 91% of the total accounts affected, which is over one million accounts, and 73% of the total areas affected has also been restored," he said.

Amirudin praised all involved in addressing the water crisis and commended them for their efficiency in restoring water.

Water was initially scheduled to be restored on Sept 9 but instead has already started tricking into households since Sunday (Sept 6) morning.
