A MAN in India was beaten to death by his father after he demanded non-vegetarian food during a Hindu holy month, Malaysia Nanban reported.
Labourer Mahesh, 30, lived with his parents Bagavat Gaikwad, 64, and Parvathi, 60, in Pune, Maharashtra.
Mahesh, who reportedly had a drinking habit, came home inebriated several nights ago and demanded to be served non-vegetarian food.
His annoyed parents told him it was the holy month of Shravana when Hindus in the state observed a strict vegetarian diet.
The son continued to argue, which led to a fight and Bagavat beat him repeatedly, causing Mahesh to collapse.
The parents left thinking he had just lost consciousness and only realised he was dead when they tried to wake him up later.
Investigation revealed the truth and both of them were arrested.
