Drunk duo held in JB after profanity-laced rant at cops

JOHOR BARU: Two men, believed to be drunk, have been arrested after one of them spewed vulgarities at police personnel in an incident on Jalan Persiaran Mutiara Mas, Mutiara Rini in Iskandar Puteri.

Iskandar Puteri district police chief Asst Comm Rahmat Ariffin said a report was received from the public that a car was parked in the middle of the road at 8.30am on Thursday (May 25).

He said personnel from a mobile patrol vehicle carried out an inspection and found two men, in their 30s, sleeping in the car.

"One of the men, who was in the passenger seat, got out of the car and used abusive words on the police.

"The two were arrested and one of them did not have an identity card,” he said in a statement on Friday (May 26).

ACP Rahmat said investigations found that the men had crime and drug offences on their records, and one had been arrested in connection with a secret society case.

He added that both men have been remanded and the case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing public servants from carrying out their duties. – Bernama
