MELAKA: Pakatan Harapan is expected to announce its candidates for the Melaka polls by next week, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim set to unveil the line-up.

Pakatan's election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pic) said the announcement date had yet to be finalised as it depended on Anwar’s availability.

“We expect to announce the line-up in just over a week, and I am waiting for confirmation of the date and the Prime Minister’s availability.

“We will give at least three to four days’ notice ahead of the announcement,” he said at the launch of Pakatan’s main operations centre in Bukit Baru here on Thursday (Oct 8).

Amirudin said the selection process was nearing completion, with each component party determining its nominees before the list was submitted to Anwar, who is also Pakatan chairman, for final endorsement.

“The respective component parties will decide on their candidates before the list is signed off by the Pakatan chairman.

“If there are particularly complex issues involving one or two seats, these may be referred back to the respective party chairmen for a decision.

“However, there are no major issues concerning our candidates at this stage,” he said.

He added that Pakatan’s candidates were of calibre and would shoulder the coalition’s hopes and responsibilities.
