TAMAN Medan is the preferred location for the Petaling Jaya hospital, says Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
He cited the area’s dense population and the need to improve access to healthcare services for surrounding communities as the reasons for choosing the site.
He said the state government was currently progressing with the land acquisition process to facilitate the hospital’s development.
“The cost is still under discussion with the relevant parties.
He made the remarks after launching the Ambulance Kita Selangor (AKS) programme Phase 2 and introduced the Selangor state public health icon at the Selangor state secretariat building’s main foyer, earlier Wednesday (July 15) afternoon.
Amirudin said the new hospital would not only benefit residents of Petaling Jaya but also those living in nearby areas such as Puchong, Jalan Kelang Lama and Subang.
"Based on feedback from the Health Ministry, Taman Medan is considered one of the most suitable locations."
He said the hospital’s design, capacity and overall development would be determined by the Health Ministry based on available funding and healthcare needs.
Amirudin also said the state government would expedite all related processes to ensure the project could be implemented as soon as possible in order to improve public access to healthcare.
