New plan to help Malaysians navigate longer lifespans

MALAYSIANS today are living longer than ever before, creating opportunities to enjoy fuller and more meaningful lives.

Yet longer lifespans also bring their own challenges, from rising healthcare costs to evolving care needs and age-related conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and Parkinson's disease.

As Malaysians embrace longer lifespans, the conversation is shifting from simply planning for retirement to preparing for how we want to live, age and leave a meaningful legacy.

Recognising the need for a more proactive and holistic approach to longevity, Hong Leong Assurance Berhad (HLA) today launched HLA Strive to Thrive, a programme designed to help Malaysians prepare for the future with confidence through two pillars: Trusted protection and wellbeing support through our partnership network.

HLA group managing director and chief executive officer Loh Guat Lan said, "Too often, people spend years preparing for their careers and families, but far less time preparing for the life they hope to live in the decades ahead. The greatest risk is not ageing itself. It is assuming that it will all work out. To truly thrive in our golden years, we must first strive in our younger years.

“Success does not happen by chance. It is built through the choices we make, the habits we cultivate, and the plans we put in place today. After all, the future we enjoy tomorrow is shaped by what we do now. That is why the message is simple yet powerful: Strive today, thrive tomorrow.”

The first pillar, Trusted Protection, is anchored by HLA's suite of solutions designed to support Malaysians through different stages of life and evolving life priorities.

HLA has launched a new product, first of its kind in Malaysia, called HLA Golden Thrive, a plan designed to address the evolving needs of an ageing population.

The plan provides Silver Protection coverage for Alzheimer's disease, severe dementia and Parkinson's disease, alongside accidental and emergency care benefits, helping customers prepare more confidently for the health and financial challenges that may arise in their golden years.

It is also a hassle-free plan without a medical check-up, with an entry age range of 40 to 75 years.

Complementing Trusted Protection is the Wellbeing Support pillar, which provides access to healthcare, wellness and lifestyle resources through a growing network of trusted partners.

From eye and hearing care to complementary healthcare services and home living support, the ecosystem helps individuals maintain their health, independence and quality of life as they age.

The launch underscores HLA's broader commitment to empowering Malaysians beyond financial protection, addressing the evolving aspirations and challenges of longer lives, while promoting greater awareness and inspiring a new mindset towards ageing.

Building on its recent recognition as the Most Innovative Life Insurance Company Malaysia 2026 by the International Finance Awards, HLA will continue to innovate and deliver solutions that empower Malaysians to prepare for the future with greater confidence and peace of mind.
