Retailer opens Ampang flagship store, five more outlets in the pipeline

A HOMEGROWN furniture retailer has teamed up with a US brand to provide customers more options via a new flagship store in Ampang, Selangor.

Fella Design Sdn Bhd, a household name since the 1980s, has collaborated with Ashley Homestores Limited on a new showroom in Jalan Ampang Utama 1/1.

The five-storey, 1,858sqm Fella Design & Ashley Furniture HomeStore Ampang opening coincided with the former’s ruby anniversary.

“I’ve invested 40 years of my life in Fella Design and have had the privilege of watching this company grow,” said its director Jason Tan.

“So you can imagine the feeling of pride in launching the Ampang showroom together with Ashley Furniture on our 40th anniversary.

“I hope that when you walk through this showroom, you won’t just feel inspired, but also appreciate our energy and optimism for the future,” he said in his speech marking the milestone.

Fella Design group chief executive officer Yu Kong Cing said: “We have come up with more modern designs, which are not the usual line.

“We will continue pursuing our goal of being a trusted name in furniture and fabric in this country.

“The opening of this showroom is only the first in a series of aggressive expansions planned throughout 2026,” added Yu.

Ashley Furniture Asia Pacific vice-president Jason Lee said the Ampang outlet is the company’s fifth showroom in Malaysia, where it has been present for more than a decade.

He said Fella Design had been an official Ashley Furniture licensee since 2024.

“We plan to open five more Ashley HomeStores from the northern to the southern regions.

“Our aim is to bring greater convenience to Malaysians.”

He said Ashley Furniture was also investing heavily in innovation and technology, including artificial intelligence, citing long-term benefits such as better customer experience, supply chain efficiency and product design.
