Crime figures in Sibu district in Sarawak have fallen by 37.17% between January and October 2025 compared with the corresponding period last year.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Zulkipli Suhaili said a total of 223 fewer cases were recorded.

He said the decline reflected the effectiveness of various preventive measures and operations carried out by all the divisions and stations under the Sibu district police headquarters (IPD) throughout the year.

He noted that the achievement was the result of the ongoing dedication of police personnel, who continued to fulfil their duties across urban, rural and village areas, alongside the growing support of the community.

“Every report received was promptly and effectively handled.

“This helps to enhance public confidence in the role of the police,” he said during the monthly assembly held at the police headquarters.

He added that the reduction in crime was also aided by more structured enforcement, closer cooperation between operational units and the use of technology in security monitoring systems.

ACP Zulkipli also emphasised that Sibu IPD would continue to strengthen crime prevention strategies by focusing on a community-based approach, apply technological innovations and improve professionalism among personnel.
