Sibu district police headquarters (IPD) is now brighter at night with the installation of 55 outdoor solar lights.

The project under Dudong constituency Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) Fund costing RM110,000 was launched by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, who is also Dudong assemblyman.

Tiong said although the police headquarters was not in his constituency, he provided assistance because the police played an important role in maintaining safety.

He also praised the initiative of Sibu Police Club in holding a gotong-royong to instal the lights.

He said it sped up implementation of the project and helped save cost, compared to going through a tender process.

“If the people and local communities are able to implement a project efficiently, then opportunities should be given to them.”

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Zulkipli Suhaili expressed his appreciation to Tiong and Sarawak government for the allocation.

“This project has provided great benefits in terms of safety and comfort, especially at the IPD,” he said, adding that another allocation of RM100,000 had been agreed for the same purpose.
