Four grant schemes supporting community and sustainability goals are now open for residents and local groups in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Among them is the PJ Neighbourhood Security Grant (PKKPJ) 2026, which focuses on improving safety measures in residential areas.
Bandar Utama assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin said the grant began as a safety and security initiative to support neighbourhoods.

Under the grant, funding can be used for safety awareness programmes and activities such as dialogue sessions, talks, briefings or security patrols held in collaboration with the council, police or other relevant agencies.
It can also be used to purchase security equipment for patrol activities, including safety vests, flashlights, batons, whistles, loudhailers and other related items.
She added that residents’ feedback noted out that safety had increased and crime dropped in the area with security cameras.
Applications for the grant are open until April 14 via the designated online portal.

Applicants who received the grant last year must submit reports on their previous activities before applying again.
Also open for applications is the Assessment Tax Rebate Scheme for Green Homes, which offers rebates to homeowners who adopt environmentally friendly practices.
Running until May 31, the scheme requires applicants to meet criteria across five areas – water usage, biodiversity, waste management, transportation and energy.
Applications are to be submitted through the e-Rebat platform.
The PJ SEED 8.0 grant has also been launched for this year, offering funding between RM5,000 and RM50,000 for community-based projects.
Jamaliah said the initiative was expanded after the Covid-19 pandemic to encourage more community-driven activities, including urban farming and the creation of shared green spaces.
“We wanted to activate the community to have green spaces,” she said after the grant launch in Uptown Residences at Damansara Uptown in Petaling Jaya.
Eligible projects under PJ SEED include public awareness programmes, community services, infrastructure improvements, and networking initiatives.
Applications for the grant are open until May 31.

Meanwhile, Pro-Community Grant 4.0 under the Bandar Utama constituency supports programmes organised by the area’s local community groups.
It is open to registered organisations such as residents associations, Rukun Tetangga, village committees, joint management bodies and management corporations.
Jamaliah said residents associations could use the grant money to upgrade closed-circuit TV (CCTV) camera systems, improve lighting in darker areas and support patrol activities.
At the event, MBPJ Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing assistant director (administrative and green technology) Nur Wahidah Zakaria presented details of the PJ SEED grant and assessment tax rebate scheme.
