OVER 600 participants taking part in the Breast Cancer Awareness Fun Walk at Sireh Park in Iskandar Puteri turned the 3km route into a sea of pink.

Families and corporate teams took part in the programme, which aimed to raise awareness of early detection and regular screening for breast cancer.

Each finisher received a commemorative pin badge at the event organised for the first time by Columbia Asia Hospital Iskandar Puteri in Johor.

Hospital chief executive officer Dr Ding Eng Li said funds were raised through participation fees of RM38 per person and from a week-long fundraising campaign at the medical facility.

“All proceeds from the event were channelled to Yayasan Penyayang Iskandar Puteri and Breast Cancer Support Group to support ongoing education, emotional support and outreach programmes for patients and survivors.

“Apart from the fun walk, participants also enjoyed a lively morning filled with activities including a Zumba session, basic health screening, booths, food trucks and a lucky draw.

“We initially opened 500 slots for the fun walk but more than 600 participants turned up.”

Pulai MP Suhaizan Kayat, who launched and flagged off the walk, commended the hospital for its dedication to community well-being.

“It is encouraging to see corporate and healthcare partners coming together for such a noble cause.

“Awareness and knowledge about breast cancer are key in achieving early detection and better outcomes.

“This was not just an event but a reminder of the importance of supporting one another in the fight against cancer,” he said.
