QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd and KFC Malaysia solidified their continued support for Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s Raja Zarith Sofiah Centre for Advanced Studies on Islam, Science and Civilisation (RZS-CASIS) at the opening of the Royal Conference on Islam and Humanity at UTM in Kuala Lumpur.

The conference was graced by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, who is the Royal Patron of RZS-CASIS.

Her Majesty delivered a royal address and witnessed a cheque presentation by QSR Brands chief executive and managing director Nehchal Khanna to UTM vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim.

Also present at the event were Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zaini Ujang, UTM chairman Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar and the QSR Brands chairman Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim, who also serves as UTM pro-chancellor.

Jamaludin said the contribution by QSR Brands to the RZS-CASIS reflected a strong commitment to fostering intellectual growth and cultural understanding among Malaysians.

“Our dedication to academic excellence aligns with the impactful efforts of RZS-CASIS, which encompass scholarly research, the promotion of Islamic knowledge, and the exploration of how religion can integrate with science and technology in the modern-day world."

QSR Brands awarded a RM2mil endowment to support RZS-CASIS’ expansion of academic research, scholarly development and its publications that will focus on community enrichment, Islamic worldview education and harnessing deeper community understanding and inclusivity.

Nehchal said QSR Brands’ partnership with RZS-CASIS had been instrumental in promoting nation-building through impactful educational dialogue and knowledge sharing among academicians and scholars.

“We are deeply honoured to commemorate our collaboration and reinforce our dedication to supporting meaningful research and discussions that upholds the values of justice and humanity,” he added.
