Breast cancer awareness took the spotlight at a day-long event in Genting Highlands, Pahang.
Organised by Hard Rock Cafe Genting Highlands, the community-centred event provided breast cancer screenings, checks, educational talks and interactive sessions on the disease and breast health to emphasise the importance of early detection.
Perched 1,829m above sea level, the gathering marked the highest-altitude Pinktober event, drawing more than 150 participants including supporters and guests from Wyndham Ion Majestic Hotel.
Attendees enjoyed an array of Hard Rock Cafe’s popular menu offerings and live entertainment from several local artistes.
The event also focused on addressing fear and stigma associated with the disease, supported by healthcare professionals and community partners who shared insights and information with attendees.
Other activities included a blood donation drive, body mass index (BMI) checks, skin analysis, and health awareness talks.
A major highlight was “The Highest Altitude Car Meet” bringing together a collection of vehicles and automotive enthusiasts.
“This event allowed us to spur greater interest in one of the most common cancers impacting women and how early detection can make a real difference.
“By combining health knowledge and screenings with a unique location and warm hospitality, the event drove home an important message while embodying the cafe’s core values.
“We hope to make this an annual community activity,” said Hard Rock Cafe Genting Highlands general manager Jimmy Wong.
Ion Majestic Hospitality executive vice-president Tee Yih Fung said: “This event allowed us to connect with people of all ages and give back in a fresh, meaningful way that aligns with our corporate social responsibility efforts.”
