MBSJ to offer RM10 flat rate for certain traffic offences from Oct 1 - Dec 31

THE Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) will be running a RM10 flat rate offer for selected parking and traffic compounds for three months from October.

"In conjunction with MBSJ's third anniversary of attaining city status on Oct 20, we will be having a RM10 flat rate offer for selected parking and traffic compounds," said Subang Jaya mayor Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim.

"The offer will be available for three months, from Oct 1 to Dec 31.

"The payment for these compounds will be done through existing apps and online, such as Smart Selangor app."

The RM10 flat rate is applicable for selected offences committed under the council's Road Transport (Parking Allocation) Order 2007, with six exceptions.

The exceptions include offences that involve towing of vehicles, use of parking spots for the disabled, abandoned vehicles, and obstruction by heavy vehicles.

"This offer will be given on a case by case basis, not necessarily every year. We want to encourage a society that obeys the law, and not one that pays compounds only when there is a discount," Mohd Fauzi added after chairing MBSJ’s full board meeting on Tuesday (Aug 22) at the council’s headquarters in USJ5, Subang Jaya.

On the removal of election campaign materials after the Aug 12 Selangor state election, Mohd Fauzi said most parties' materials have been taken down.

"According to our Enforcement Department, about 90% of election materials (in areas under MBSJ's jurisdiction) have been removed and they have contacted the political parties to remove the remaining ones.

"We expect the remaining election materials to be removed soon, failing which the candidates' deposit to the council will be forfeited."

All political parties, election candidates and their teams have two weeks after polling day to remove their party flags, banners and buntings, failing which their deposits will be forfeited.

The Election Commission imposes a RM3,000 deposit for campaign materials for state constituency candidates.

In conjunction with National Month, Mohd Fauzi urged residents and communities to display the Jalur Gemilang around their homes and community spaces.

"MBSJ's Licensing Department will also be issuing circulars to business premises to fly the flag. These flags must be in good condition, not torn, and flown in the correct manner," he said of the Kempen Kibar Jalur Gemilang (Fly the National Flag Campaign).
