Public service earns trio recognition in Johor

Nur Hasliza urges the public to be vigilant when dealing with dubious investment schemes.

For Nur Hasliza Hisham, joining the police as a sergeant a decade ago with a diploma in Islamic Finance did not stop her from continuing her studies.

Despite her hectic schedule as an investigating officer, she continued her studies to complete her police law examination before being promoted to inspector.

Nur Hasliza, 35, attached to the Tangkak commercial crimes investigations department, believes in continuous learning to upgrade herself.

She was among 50 recipients of the Johor police chief’s award during the monthly assembly at the state police headquarters in Johor Baru.

She was selected for her role in preventing a company from losing almost RM700,000 to a scam syndicate in March.

Mohd Fadli says the Johor police chief’s award motivates him to work harder.

“When the company representative came to lodge a report, I urged the person to immediately call the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) at 997 to freeze money in the account.

“Only NSRC has the power to do this.

“As the company officials were prompt in seeking help, the syndicate could not transfer the money out,” she said, adding that the account had since been released and the funds fully recovered.

Nur Hasliza, who received her second letter of commendation, described the award as recognition for her efforts.

She urged the public to remain vigilant against dubious investment schemes promising high returns.

Another recipient, Insp Mohd Fadli Abdullah, 37, who has been with the police for 11 years, said he had been given the opportunity to serve in various roles, including as an officer-in-charge of a police station.

Currently in the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Mohd Fadli, who has a degree in mechanical engineering, said this was his second time receiving a commendation letter for helping to solve criminal cases.

“As a policeman, we are constantly required to think about how we can solve cases and always prioritise the safety of victims,” said the Terengganu-born officer.

Pledging to continue giving his best, he said the letter was recognition for his hard work and dedication, and that it motivated him to work harder.

Insp Fairol Arman Fadlan Al-Ghazali, 32, from the Special Branch, also received his second commendation. The letter he received from the state’s top cop this time was for his role in a joint operation with the Customs Department to stop illegal ship-to-ship oil transfers in Johor waters.

“I am glad my superiors value my dedication in carrying out my duties.

“This will inspire me to continue to work harder,” said the Art and Design graduate from Terengganu who previously earned a commendation for busting a group involved in migrant smuggling in 2022.

Fairol, who has been with the police for seven years, said being a policeman was an exciting job that required a lot of commitment and sacrifice.

In his speech, Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad commended the recipients for their outstanding service and thanked the public for working closely with the police.

“This is in recognition of the hard work, sacrifices and contributions of our personnel.

“I hope this inspires everyone to continue to give their best service,” he said, urging Johor police personnel to carry out their duties honestly and responsibly to enhance the force’s image.
