KUALA LUMPUR: Five senior Kuala Lumpur police officers have been promoted from Assistant Commissioner (ACP) to Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC) and appointed to new leadership positions.
The promotions and appointments were announced during a rank insignia presentation and handover ceremony officiated by Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus at Anjung Srikandi, Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters, on Thursday (Aug 6).
Among those promoted was former Dang Wangi OCPD SAC Sazalee Adam, who was appointed the new Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief.
Also promoted were former Sentul OCPD SAC Basri Sagoni, former Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department (CID) deputy chief (Intelligence/Operations) SAC Zulkarnain Samsudin, former Kuala Lumpur Special Branch deputy chief (Intelligence and Operations) SAC Kamaruzaman Md Alib, and former Kuala Lumpur Narcotics Crime Investigation Department chief SAC Haslah Bachok.
SAC Basri was appointed principal assistant director (D7 Prevention/Detention/Surveillance) at Bukit Aman CID, while SAC Zulkarnain, SAC Kamaruzaman and Haslah were appointed Selangor CID chief, E1A Special Branch assistant director at Bukit Aman, and principal assistant director (Intelligence/Operations) of the Standards Compliance Division under the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) at Bukit Aman, respectively.
The ceremony also saw ACP Kee Hang Kee appointed Kuala Lumpur Narcotics Crime Investigation Department chief, while ACP Saefuddin @ Mohd Fitri Abdul Rahman assumed the post of Kuala Lumpur deputy Special Branch chief (Intelligence/Operations).
In his speech, Comm Fadil said promotions within the police force were not merely a recognition of an officer's performance and dedication, but a greater responsibility that must be carried out with sincerity and integrity.
He said transfers were also an important process to ensure the organisation continued to grow through fresh ideas, experience and new approaches without affecting service delivery to the public.
"Effective leadership is not measured solely by operational achievements, but also by the ability to guide personnel, build teamwork and strengthen public confidence in the police force.
"As we face increasingly complex security challenges, all Kuala Lumpur police personnel must strengthen their commitment to fighting crime, particularly drug abuse, enhance operational readiness and foster stronger strategic ties with the community," he said.
The ceremony also witnessed the handover of the Sentul Perkep chairmanship from Erliana Roslan to Wan Sapura Wan Mansor, while the Dang Wangi Perkep chairmanship was handed over from Nor Faizah Abu Hassan to Insp Yusnor Hafizah Kasim.
