KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur police officers need to use modern technology, smart data, and better teamwork to tackle changing crimes, said KL Police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus.
He said the police must act fast and stay ahead because criminals are using smarter tools, and the public expects more from the force.
He urged all local police departments to check their work regularly and find better ways to stop crime.
“We cannot just rest on our success. We must fix our weaknesses and build on what we do well,” he said during the KL police monthly gathering on Friday night (Sept 11).
“We must work quickly, accurately, and professionally,” he added.
Comm Fadil stressed that honesty and good discipline are key to keeping the public's trust.
He added that Malaysia remains a very safe country, noting that it ranked 12th in the 2024 Global Peace Index and 57th in the 2024 Global Terrorism Index.
To stay respected at home and abroad, he called on all officers to work closely together as one team.
During the event, Comm Fadil gave award letters to top-performing officers. The gathering also honoured KL Special Branch chief SAC Datuk Zulkifli Arin, who retired after more than 39 years of service.
