KUALA LUMPUR: The Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) has yet to receive any complaints over allegations that activist Tamim Dahri Abdul Razak was subjected to rough treatment and ordered to strip naked in front of other detainees while in police custody.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that as of Sunday (Oct 25), no complaints had been lodged with the commission over the alleged mistreatment.
He said the IPCC, which began operating following the enforcement of the Independent Police Conduct Commission Act 2022 on July 1, 2023, received complaints through various channels.
"Should the IPCC receive any complaint involving misconduct by police personnel, it will handle the matter in accordance with Section 25 of the Act," he told the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (Oct 28).
Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (PN-Besut) sought details of internal police investigations, particularly those involving the IPCC, into allegations that Tamim had been mistreated and ordered to strip naked in the presence of other detainees while held in a police lock-up.
