Contract worker electrocuted while fitting lamps in Kudat school

KOTA KINABALU: A contract worker was electrocuted while working near a school in Kudat early Wednesday (Oct 28).

The 56-year-old Filipino was installing and repairing lamps at the school compound when his metal ladder came in contact with a live wire.

"The victim was electrocuted and fell," Kudat fire station chief Darikson Galanang said when contacted.

Galanang said they received a call about a possible electrocution victim outside SRK © Lok Yuk Batu 1.

He said a team arrived there at about 8.30am and Sabah Electricity was asked to cut the power supply to allow them to proceed.

Medical officials then checked the victim before pronouncing him dead.

The body was then retrieved and handed over the police for a post-mortem and further investigation.

Galanang said operations on site ended at 9.46am with no other injuries reported.
