KUALA Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) allocated RM6.67mil to maintain and upgrade the Taman Mulia People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Bandar Tun Razak, benefiting more than 2,100 residents.
Of the total allocation, RM3.48mil was for repainting the buildings while RM2.55mil was used to replace cables and switchboards.
"The remaining RM370,000 was used for road resurfacing works, while RM272,000 went towards installing fire prevention systems," Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud told a press conference on Wednesday (Oct 21) to mark the completion of upgrading works.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said DBKL chose more neutral colours for the repainting to give the PPR a more residential feel, rather than making it look like a kindergarten with bright colours.
"DBKL also collaborated with the Board of Engineers Malaysia on replacing the sub-main cables and main switchboards.
"The professional engineering body offered its services to assist DBKL in auditing electrical works across all PPRs in Kuala Lumpur," she said.
Built in 2002, PPR Taman Mulia comprises 912 residential units in two 21-storey blocks.
The flat's management was handed over to the Joint Management Body (JMB) on Dec 1 last year.
Also present was Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
