SEVEN people involved in managing an apartment building in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, have been issued compound notices after its management corporation failed to hold annual general meetings (AGM) for three consecutive years.
Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) said, in a social media post, that the management corporation did not hold AGMs from 2023 to 2025.
MBSJ said it took action on July 8 following a complaint to its Commissioner of Buildings Department.
“The department opened an investigation paper and referred the case to the deputy public prosecutor before the compound notices were issued.”
The city council said the compound for the offence was RM4,000 and those involved were given 14 days to pay.
“Prosecution may follow if the compound is not paid within that period,” it added.
MBSJ said if convicted, those responsible could face a fine of up to RM50,000, imprisonment of up to three years or both.
It reminded joint management bodies and management corporations that holding AGMs within the required period was a statutory duty under the Strata Management Act 2013.
It added that the meetings allowed property owners to discuss management and maintenance issues, as well as how their buildings were run.
Separately, Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) said it had taken action against six unlicensed business premises operated by foreign workers in Jalan Kebun Baru/KU15, Jalan Klang Perdana and Kampung Perepat.
It said the businesses included convenience shops, a barber shop, a grocery shop selling live chickens and a food preparation premises.
In its post on social media, MBDK said its licensing and enforcement officers issued six inventory forms and seized items during the operation.
It also reported action against 11 unlicensed hawkers at two other locations in Klang.
Four hawkers at Taman Rakyat Andalas had items seized, while seven at Lorong Selamat in Sungai Udang were issued compounds under the MBDK’s hawker by-laws.
