The World Kite Festival 2026, happening from on Feb 10 and 11, will adorn the skies at Politeknik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin in Perlis with vibrant kite displays.

This year marks the second time the state is hosting the festival, which is set to become an annual cultural and tourism event in the region.

According to the Jabatan Penerangan Negri Perlis Facebook page, the festival will bring together participants from 47 countries, showcasing a wide variety of kite art and flying styles.

The inaugural event (Perlis International Kite Festival) last year welcomed competitors and kite enthusiasts from around the world, including Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Brazil, China and Canada, and attracted over 2,000 spectators.

This year's festival also features an array of programmes for all ages. Among them are batik dyeing, cultural performances and adventurous activities such as flying fox and ATV rides.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of culinary delights at the food bazaar, too.

Other kite festivals are also happening in the country.

Kelantan will host the Kelantan International Giant Kite Festival (also known as Pesta Wau Antarabangsa Kelantan) at Pantai Irama in Bachok from May 16 to 17, celebrating the state's traditional wau heritage.

Meanwhile, Johor's 28th Pasir Gudng International Kite Festival is taking place at Bukit Layang Layang from Feb 4 to 8, organised jointly by the Johor State Government and Pasir Gudang City Council.
