PETALING JAYA: Gas Malaysia Bhd
expects to deliver a satisfactory financial performance for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026, while remaining mindful of the prevailing economic and market uncertainties.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Gas Malaysia said it will continue to focus on enhancing operational efficiency, maintaining cost discipline, and strengthening its competitive position.
For its second quarter ended June 30, 2026, Gas Malaysia’s net profit dropped to RM72.53mil from RM99.12mil in the previous corresponding period, while revenue during the quarter dropped to RM1.58bil from RM1.8bil a year earlier.
Gas Malaysia said the lower revenue was primarily attributable to the lower average natural gas selling price, mitigated by higher volume of natural gas sold.
“The profit before zakat and taxation for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026 was RM101.9mil, a decrease of 23.1% as compared to the profit before zakat and taxation of RM132.5mil in the corresponding quarter in 2025.
“This was mainly driven by lower average natural gas contribution margin due to lower average natural gas selling price, higher operating expenses and higher finance costs, mitigated by higher volume of natural gas sold.”
For the six-month period ended June 30, 2026, Gas Malaysia’s net profit dropped to RM165.37mil from RM199.26mil in the previous corresponding period, while revenue dipped to RM3.18bil from RM3.65bil previously.
Gas Malaysia also declared a first interim dividend of five sen per share on its 1.28 billion ordinary shares, amounting to RM64.2mil in respect of the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026 , which will be paid on Nov 6, 2026.
