Malaysia qualify for Asian Futsal Cup 2026

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian futsal team have qualified for the Asian Cup 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The side, coached by Thai native Rakhpol Sainetngam, qualified after they confirmed their spot as one of the seven best second-placed teams from the eight groups.

Malaysia finished second in Group G with six points from three matches.

They started their campaign at the Sukpa Indoor Stadium in Kuantan by beating the United Arab Emirates 1-0 on Sept 20, and then thrashed Bangladesh 7-1 on Sept 22.

In their final group match, they lost to Iran 0-4, but the result was expected as the Central Asian nation are Asian Cup defending champions.

The last time Malaysia qualified for the tournament was in 2018 in Taiwan where they played up to the group stages.
