A FUTSAL competition with players being blindfolded was held in Kuala Terengganu to foster understanding between the public and the visually impaired.
Utusan Malaysia reported that the three-team tournament – organised by the Terengganu chapter of the Malaysian Islamic Association for the Blind (Pertis), the Terengganu Mainstream Media Club and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) – saw all participants, including those with sight, competing blindfolded.
To play, they had to rely entirely on instructions from teammates and the sound of bells inside the ball.
Pertis Terengganu chairman Mohd Fauzi Mansor said the event offered a firsthand look at the determination and capabilities of visually impaired people.
“Participants had the chance to experience how visually impaired individuals play football and navigate challenges on the court,” he said, adding that such exposure can help change perceptions towards people with disabilities.
> Actor Kodi Rasheed shed 22kg, going from 84kg to 62kg, in just three months to prepare for a film role, Harian Metro reported.
Kodi, whose real name is Muhammad Shazmeer Mohd Rasheed, 36, said the transformation was initially part of his preparation for the movie Malaikat Malam where he lost about 15kg.
He was later asked to slim down further for his latest project, Hak – Tuntut Atau Tunduk, produced by Seni Malaya and Astro Shaw.
The role, he said, required him to appear dishevelled, as he plays a man oppressed by someone in authority.
Kodi said he followed a strict diet for three months, cutting out sugar, sweet drinks, bread and flour-based foods, while eating small portions of rice with grilled fish and guava at night when he felt hungry.
