A WIDOWER in Kuala Terengganu found solace knowing that his late wife’s final wish to donate most of her organs helped others with a second shot at life, Kosmo! reported.
Raja Muhammad Raja Ali, 45, said Romaizam Marzuan donated her two kidneys and heart to three recipients.
“Both corneas, heart valves, skin and bones of the deceased were also donated. As her husband, I am grateful that her last wish could be fulfilled.
“I hope that those who received her organs can live better lives and enjoy good health for many years to come.
“Consider the organ you receive as a precious gift and use this opportunity to continue living with your family more fully,” he was quoted as saying.
Raja Muhammad said that his wife’s passing was deeply mourned by their four children, aged between nine and 19.
> An actress who appeared in a Hollywood film in her 20s recalled how impressed she was by the skills of Malaysian production crew, Mingguan Malaysia reported.
Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina, now 59, said many local production crew members were working for the international production of the film Beyond Rangoon in 1994.
“Our expertise is no less than Hollywood’s. The crew were the same people who create film sets for local productions, so I feel that our local crew deserve more opportunities.
“That made me think that one day I should create an epic film that uses Malaysians as the backbone of its production,” she said.
Reflecting on her experience, Tiara said the treatment by Hollywood productions at that time was different from local films.
“Each actor was given a motor home for our comfort. We didn’t have to wait around in the hot weather.
“We were not discriminated against in terms of payment. Every speaking role was paid generously, and besides that, our welfare was well taken care of,” she added.
