PETALING JAYA: Weightlifter Mohd Aniq Kasdan delivered Malaysia's first gold medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in emphatic fashion after setting a new Games record in the men's 60kg event.
Aniq got off to a strong start at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) Hall in Glasgow on Sunday (July 26) by lifting 121kg in the snatch.
He then continued his dominance in the clean and jerk with a lift of 152kg, giving him a winning total of 273kg.
His total proved well beyond the reach of the rest of the field, with India's Rishikanta Singh Chanambam taking the silver medal on 264kg.
Kenya's Joshua Amunga Mboya claimed the bronze with a total lift of 260kg.
